Dryoscopus
Dryoscopus is a genus of bird in the Malaconotidae (bushshrike) family. It contains the following species, all of which are indigenous to various parts of Africa.
- Pink-footed puffback (Dryoscopus angolensis)
- Black-backed puffback (Dryoscopus cubla)
- Northern puffback (Dryoscopus gambensis)
- Pringle's puffback (Dryoscopus pringlii)
- Sabine's puffback (Dryoscopus sabini)
- Red-eyed puffback (Dryoscopus senegalensis)
The name Dryoscopus is a compound Greek word: drus from the Greek word for "tree" and skopos, meaning "watcher or lookout".
