Dog-rose

Dog-rose \Dog"-rose`\, n. (Bot.) A common European wild rose, with single pink or white flowers.

Usage examples of "dog-rose".

A rutted lane ran toward it, between hawthorn hedges twined with dog-roses.

It was festooned with flowers: bluebells and foxgloves and harebells and daffodils, but also with violets and lilies, with tiny crimson dog-roses, pale snowdrops, blue forget-me-nots and a profusion of other flowers Dunstan could not name.

It was but about a mile and a half to Broxton over the opposite slope, and their road wound very pleasantly along lanes and across fields, where the pale woodbines and the dog-roses were scenting the hedgerows, and the birds were twittering and trilling in the tall leafy boughs of oak and elm.
