Demand-side

The Demand side is a term used in economics to refer to a number of things:

  • The demand element of a supply and demand partial equilibrium diagram, in microeconomics
  • The aggregate demand in an economy, in macroeconomics
  • Economic policy actions which are designed to affect aggregate demand.
  • Demand-side learning referring to the incentive to learn how to use and modify free software as opposed to buying conventional software.

The term is also used broadly to distinguish supply-side economics from other schools, for instance New Keynesian economics.
