Dinornis \Di*nor"nis\, n. [NL., fr. Gr. ? terrible + ? bird.] (Paleon.) A genus of extinct, ostrichlike birds of gigantic size, which formerly inhabited New Zealand. See Moa. [Written also Deinornis.]
