Dearham

Dearham is a village and civil parish in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, England. It is situated in West Cumbria, about east of Maryport and west of Cockermouth. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,028, increasing to 2,151 at the 2011 Census. It is a large, strung-out village. The village has a small primary school with approximately 253 children on roll and a nursery with approximately 26 children on roll. There is a church (St Mungo's, C of E); the former Methodist Chapel is now a private residence. There are four public houses (Now three as the Ploughmans has closed down), including The Old Mill Inn, The Sun Inn on Central Road (renovated in the first decade of the 21st century) & The Commercial on the main road, a Post Office with village shop (Dearham Post Office & Convenience Store), a fish and chip shop, a hairdresser, a petrol station and a locally renowned pie shop, "The Cottage Pie".

The majority of young people in Dearham attend Netherhall School, Maryport or Cockermouth School for their secondary schooling.
