Gatten tree \Gat"ten tree`\ [Cf. Prov. E. gatter bush.] (Bot.) A name given to the small trees called guelder-rose ( Viburnum Opulus), cornel ( Cornus sanguinea), and spindle tree ( Euonymus Europ[ae]us).
