Corazones

Corazones is the fourth album by the Chilean new-wave band Los Prisioneros. First released in 1990, it was produced by Gustavo Santaolalla (with Anibal Kerpel's collaboration) for EMI Odeon Chilena. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in Los Angeles, California.

The lyrics are not related to the band's usual social criticism, but they took a more romantic, electronic oriented direction, with the support of Cecilia Aguayo on keyboards and Robert Rodríguez on guitars. Also, this was the first record without Claudio Narea (a member of the original line-up) on guitar.

After finishing the promotion tour -which included two performances on the International Music Festival at Viña del Mar (1991)- The band split up and would eventually reunite for a brief period in 2001.

In the US, Corazones was released by Capitol Records.

According to Rolling Stone Chile magazine, "Corazones" stands #9 on the best Chilean album of all times ranking, while " La voz de los 80" stands #3, and " Pateando piedras", #15.

Corazones (song)

Corazones (Eng.: Hearts) is a song written by Ana Torroja, Lanfranco Ferrario, Massimo Grillo and Miguel Bosé. The song is a live recording taken from GiraDos En Concierto, an album released by Bosé and Torroja in 2000. Is the only new song included on the setlist of a very successful worldwide tour by both performers.

The track was later included on Torroja's compilation album Essential in 2004 and in 2007 on Bosé's Papito Special Edition.

Corazones (Omar Rodríguez-López album)

Corazones is the twenty-eighth studio album by Omar Rodríguez-López as a solo artist and his second to be released through the series initiated by Ipecac Recordings. On July 7, 2016, it was announced that Sworn Virgins would be the first of 12 records Ipecac would be releasing throughout the remainder of 2016. Each record will be digitally released on a bi-weekly basis, with a limited CD pressing as well. Upon completion of the release schedule, a limited edition CD/LP box set containing all 12 records will be made available.

Described as "mournful folk-pop", Corazones features songs originally intended to be used for a film (which eventually failed to materialize). The studio wanted Omar's vocal delivery and music for the film to be as "straight-ahead" as possible and the result he compared to "childlike nursery rhymes." His main inspiration for the songs was his mother, who was terminally ill at the time. Omar stated, "when working with the director and producer, all the themes that were in the film itself were exactly what I was going through: loss, loss of indentity because of such an extreme loss." After his mother died, Omar decided to hire his friend Sam Margolis to help him finish the production.

The song "Sea is Rising" made its first studio appearance on 2013's Unicorn Skeleton Mask, while the song was actually debuted instrumentally on the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group 2010 tour.

On August 1, 2016, Pitchfork released a music video for the song "Running Away" directed by Violeta Felix which features John Frusciante, Eva Gardner, Teri Gender Bender, Robin Laananen, Tatiana Velazquez, Aura T-09, and Buzz Osborne all punching Omar in the face.
