What is "consequent poles"

Consequent \Con"se*quent\, a. [L. consequens, -entis, p. pr. of consequi to follow; con- + sequi to follow: cf. F. cons['e]quent. See Second, and cf. Consecution.]

1. Following as a result, inference, or natural effect.
