(Bot.) A branching perennial plant ( Cichorium Intybus) with bright blue flowers, growing wild in Europe, Asia, and America; also cultivated for its roots and as a salad plant; succory; wild endive. See Endive.
The root, which is roasted for mixing with coffee.
