Chiquititas (literally translated as "Little Girls", known in English as Tiny Angels) is a children's musical Argentine telenovela, created and produced by Cris Morena. It starred Morena's daughter Romina Yan, and Agustina Cherri.
The series focuses on a group of orphans living in a manor, known as Rincón de Luz. Their lives are gradually touched and changed by Belén, a sweet-hearted, dedicated young woman. The story explores their experiences and coming-of-age dramas such as discovering first love, deceptions, sadness, loneliness and friendship, as they form a family altogether. In the fifth season, the show was rebooted with a new setting, new characters and a new story. The series is complemented with musical themes and videos.
Chiquititas spawned two spin-offs, Rincón de Luz, which aired in 2003 on Canal 9 and a 2006 production, Chiquititas Sin Fin, which aired on Telefe. Sin Fin was created to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the series, and later had versions in Portugal and Romania. A game based on Sin Fin was also released for PS2 and Wii in 2009.
Chiquititas has been aired in 25 countries and adapted for Brazilian and Mexican audiences. The series originally ran between 1995 and 2001, the year the show's feature film Chiquititas: Rincón de Luz was released.
Chiquititas, also known as Chiquititas Brasil is the Brazilian version of the Argentine telenovela Chiquititas. Produced and aired from 1997 to 2001 by SBT, in association with Telefe, the show starred Brazilian actresses Flávia Monteiro as Carolina "Carol" Correia, Fernanda Souza as Mili, and Débora Falabella, as Estrela, being the last two's careers debut.
Based on the original version of same name created and produced by Cris Morena, the series tells the story of a group of orphans that live in a manor, known as Raio de Luz, whose lives are touched and changed by Carol. Their experiences such as discovering first love, deceptions, loneliness and friendship, as well as adventures in fantasy, are depicted throughout the series. The narrative is enhanced by musical themes and videos. The Brazilian series ran for five seasons until SBT's contract with Telefe ended in 2001.
On September 19, 2012, SBT announced a new version of Chiquititas, which premiered on July 15, 2013 following the good ratings obtained by the 2012 remake of Carrusel. Unlike Chiquititas Brasil, the new Chiquititas production is completely made in Brazil, and is the first without involviment of Cris Morena.
Chiquititas is a 2013–2015 Brazilian telenovela written by Íris Abravanel, originally aired on SBT. Based on the original series of same name created by Cris Morena, it is also a remake of the previous version for that country. The series is directed by Reynaldo Boury, with Ricardo Mantoanelli directing the music videos.
The remake was announced in September 2012 by SBT, with the purpose of maintaining the positive ratings given by Carrossel, also directed for younger viewers. Chiquititas was supposed to follow the traditional telenovela format, but as the series gained very good ratings, it prompted the network to renew the series for two more seasons, delaying its ending for 2015.
Chiquititas stars Brazilian actress Manuela do Monte as Carol, a young woman who gradually assumes the role of a mother for a group of orphans living in a manor, the Raio de Luz orphanage, and Giovanna Grigio as Mili, an orphan who seeks to know about her unknown origins.
