Chenzhou is a city located in the south of Hunan province, People's Republic of China. Its administrative area covers , 9.2% of the provincial area, and its total population reached 4,559,600 in 2001, 26% of them living in urban areas, 74% of them live in rural areas.

Chenzhou is a modern prefecture-level city in Hunan, China.

Chenzhou or Chen Prefecture was a zhou (prefecture) in imperial China seated in modern Yuanling County, Hunan, China. It existed (intermittently) from the 6th century to 1913.

Between 1364 and 1913 during the Ming dynasty and Qing dynasty it was known as Chenzhou Prefecture .
