What is "chekavar"

Chekavar (also Chekava, Chekavan, Chevakan, Chon) are legendary characters derived from oral traditions of Northern Kerala known as the 'Northern ballads'.

Chekavar is a 2010 Malayalam-language action thriller film written and directed by Sajeevann. It stars Indrajith, Kalabhavan Mani, Sarayu and Samvrutha Sunil in the lead roles. Its music was composed by Rahul Raj with lyrics penned by Anil Panachooran. The film released on 8 October 2010. Indrajith plays the role of a police officer while Mani plays an underworld don. The story progresses as both of them fight each other, for their siblings.
