Checkerberries

Checkerberry \Check"er*ber`ry\ (ch[e^]k"[~e]r*b[e^]r`r[y^]), n.; pl. Checkerberries. (Bot.) A spicy plant and its bright red berry; the wintergreen ( Gaultheria procumbens). Also incorrectly applied to the partridge berry ( Mitchella repens).
