Chakora (mythology)

Chakora, ( Sanskrit: चकोर) a kind of partridge, is a legendary bird described in Hindu mythology. It is believed to reside upon the beams of the moon, that is, the Chandra. The association of Chakora and Chandra has given rise to a number of folk love stories in north India.
