Cardeto is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about southwest of Catanzaro and about southeast of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,195 and an area of .
The municipality of Cardeto contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Pantano , Mannarella, Sant'Elia, Mallamaci , Cartalimi, Iriti , Piraino, Colachecco, Loddini, Castanea , Chimputo, Ambele , Lamberta, Giurricando, Garcea, Calvario,Scranò, and Scala.
