What is "calfem"

CALFEM is a MATLAB toolbox for finite element analysis. The main focus is on educational use. The toolbox has been developed since the seventies, first as a Fortran code and later it was translated to MATLAB. Development originally started at the Division of Structural Mechanics at Lund University, but now has many more contributors.

There is also a subset of CALFEM available for Python (CALFEM for Python).
