Caldana

Caldana is a village in Tuscany, central Italy, administratively a frazione of the comune of Gavorrano, province of Grosseto. At the time of the 2001 census its population amounted to 980.

Caldana is about 28 km from Grosseto and 8 km from Gavorrano, and it is situated on a hill in the south-eastern side of the massif of Monte Calvo. The village dates back to the Early Middle Ages, when it was a property of the bishops of Roselle. It was then ruled by the Pannocchieschi family and conquered by the Republic of Siena during the 14th century.
