The C-2 is a line and rail service of Cercanías Madrid commuter rail network, operated by Renfe Operadora. It runs southwards from Chamartín station in Madrid, crossing the downtown, and then continues eastwards, towards Alcalá de Henares and Guadalajara.
C-2 trains use the central tunel de la risa in Madrid, where they share tracks with Cercanías Madrid commuter rail service lines C-1, C-7, C-8, and C-10, calling at Atocha, Recoletos, Nuevos Ministerios and Chamartín stations. For its entire length, trains operate on the conventional Madrid–Barcelona railway, while some trains go directly from Chamartín to Torrejón de Ardoz via a bypass of the line that links Madrid and San Fernando de Henares via Hortaleza and Barajas.
