equivalent of Old English broþerrede "fellowship, brotherhood," with ending as in kindred; in early Middle English the word was brotherhede with ending as in maidenhead. The modern word, with -hood, is from 15c. Originally "relationship of a brother," also "friendly companionship." Concrete sense of "an association, a fraternity" is from mid-14c. in the Middle English word (later also "labor union," 1880s). Brotherhood (New Order album)

Brotherhood is the fourth studio album by the English rock band New Order, released in 1986 by Factory Records. The album contains a mixture of post-punk and electronic styles, roughly divided between the two sides.

Brotherhood includes the band's break-out single in the USA and Australia, " Bizarre Love Triangle". It is the only track from the album released as a single and as a video (although " State of the Nation" was on the CD). It found its way onto many 1980s soundtracks, including Married to the Mob.

The album sleeve was created by Peter Saville and is a photograph of a sheet of titanium-zinc alloy. Some early releases come in a metallic effect sleeve.

In 2008 the album was re-released in a Collector's Edition with a bonus disc.

Brotherhood (The Doobie Brothers album)

Brotherhood is the eleventh studio album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers, released in 1991 (see 1991 in music). It was their second and final album for Capitol. It also marked the final appearances on a Doobie Brothers album by bassist Tiran Porter and original drummer John Hartman.

Four out of the ten tracks were written entirely by outside musicians, though two of these, songwriter Jerry Lynn Williams and Jim Peterik of Survivor also collaborated with Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons on some of their compositions.

The album contained no major hit singles but " Dangerous", Simmons' anthem to his passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles peaked at #2 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and is still performed live by the band. Johnston's "Rollin' On" charted at #12 on the same listing.

Brotherhood is a 2002 modern television serial jointly produced by Singapore's MediaCorp and China's Beijing YaHuan Media Co. (北京亚环影音), in conjunction with Beijing Broadcasting Institute. Starring Hong Kong actor Jordan Chan, Singaporean-based celebrity couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee as well as mainland Chinese actresses Huang Yi and Hao Lei, the serial is set in modern-day Shanghai and Singapore, telling of the inter-generational feud between two twin brothers.

The show also features their mother Rose ( Fionnula Flanagan), cousin Colin Carr ( Brían F. O'Byrne), childhood friend and Rhode Island state detective Declan Giggs ( Ethan Embry), Irish mob boss Freddie Cork ( Kevin Chapman), Tommy's wife Eileen ( Annabeth Gish), and Michael's criminal partner Pete McGonagle (Stivi Paskoski).

Brotherhood was originally broadcast by the premium cable network Showtime in the United States from July 9, 2006 to December 21, 2008, with show's three seasons consisting of eleven, ten and eight episodes, respectively. The show was not renewed after its third season, which Showtime later confirmed was the last. The series was produced and almost entirely written by Masters and Henry Bromell. It was filmed on location in Providence, Rhode Island.

Brotherhood ( subtitled: The Definitive Singles Collection) is a compilation album by English big beat duo The Chemical Brothers, released on . It is the second compilation spanning the band's greatest hits, after 2003's Singles 93–03. The first disc features thirteen hit singles and two new tracks, " Midnight Madness" and "Keep My Composure" (featuring a guest appearance of the rap group Spank Rock)—while the second CD contains all ten parts of The Chemical Brothers' "Electronic Battle Weapon" series of special mixes, which the duo have been recording since 1996.

Brotherhood was preceded by the digital single "Midnight Madness", a short version of " Electronic Battle Weapon 10", released on , and promoted by the series of live performances in July and August 2008, throughout a number of European countries.
