Brockville

Brockville, formerly Elizabethtown, is a city in Eastern Ontario, Canada in the Thousand Islands region. Although it is the seat of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, it is politically independent of the county. It is included with Leeds and Grenville for census purposes only.

Known as the "City of the 1000 Islands", Brockville is located on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River opposite Morristown, New York, about halfway between Ontario's Cornwall to the east and Kingston to the west. It is roughly a 50-minute drive south of the national capital of Ottawa. It is one of Ontario's oldest European-Canadian communities and is named after the British general Sir Isaac Brock.

Brockville (electoral district)

Brockville was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1867 to 1917. It was created by the British North America Act of 1867.

It consisted initially of the Town of Brockville and the Township of Elizabethtown. In 1882, the township of Kitley was added to the riding. In 1903, the township of Kitley was removed from the riding, and the townships of Yonge and Escott (Front and Rear), and the village of Athens were added.

The electoral district was abolished in 1914 when it was merged into Leeds ridings.
