Brahmachari (1968 Hindi film)

Brahmachari is a 1968 Indian film. Written by Sachin Bhowmick, it is a G. P. and Ramesh Sippy production directed by Bhappi Sonie. The film stars Shammi Kapoor, Rajshree, Pran, Mumtaz, Jagdeep, Sachin and Asit Sen. The music was by Shankar Jaikishan. The film became a box office hit and won several awards, including Filmfare Best Movie Award.

It was later remade in Tamil as Enga Mama (1970) and in Telugu as Devudu Mamayya (1981).

The film stars Prem Nazir, Sharada, Adoor Bhasi and Jose Prakash in lead roles. The film had musical score by V. Dakshinamoorthy. The film was a remake of the 1967 Tamil film Penne Nee Vazhga and Hindi film Ek Nari Ek Brahmachari.

Brahmachari is a 1938 black and white Marathi film. The film was directed by Master Vinayak and written by Pralhad Keshav Atre and starred Master Vinayak himself along with Meenakshi Shirodkar in lead roles. The film was a political satire targeted on the Hindu nationalist organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The film was also made in Hindi language.

Atre paired with Master Vinayak for the second time for this film after the 1937 film Dharmaveer. Apart from the witty dialogues and satirical theme, the film became popular for Shirodkar's seductive song sequence wearing a swimsuit.
