About 50 families (2016), mostly of the Belwal clan, settled here, live in perfect harmony with nature - neither their simply built house nor their occupation- farming, being in conflict with the pristine beauty of this mountain village. Apples, walnuts, pears, plums, peaches and apricot grow in abundance and shed their bounty on the pathways.Vegetables are grown by each family for their own consumption. Almost every family owns cows again for their own dairy needs.

It is said the the village of the Belwal clan was founded by a group of pilgrims from Maharashtra, who had come on char dham yatra and chose to settle down here circa 17th Century.
