Beachspeaker

Beach Speaker is an alternative rock band from Dunedin, New Zealand fronted by New Zealand singer-songwriter Paul 'Pipsy' McMillan. They formed in February, 2016. It was founded by Dunedin singer-songwriter Paul McMillan as a surf/psychedlia inspired project after his PhD and Masters work at the University of Otago, and extensive tours across New Zealand and Australia in McMillan's other musical projects. The band are set to release their first string of singles in August 2016, and play live in Melbourne, Australia regularly.

The band began when McMillan started recording with producer Cesil Turbine in his Brunswick Studio in northern Melbourne. McMillan played drums, guitar, bass and performed vocals on their debut series of demos, which includes songs "Old Brain, Young Brain", "Mental Health", "Seafoam", and "Mountains". Paul then enlisted fellow music student and guitarist Josiah Cowan whom he met at the University, and finished the three-piece line up with McMillan's older brother Cameron, as the group's bass player. The band began with performances in Dunedin, New Zealand, before playing larger venues in Melbourne Victoria.

McMillan's former work with indie pop band Males as their drummer, and Julian Temple Band as bass player, vocalist, and producer, informs his work currently - as he collaborates with these artists, and keeps close ties with the Dunedin Indie scene.
