Bascantis

Bascantis is a genus of moths belonging to the family Tineidae. It contains only one species, Bascantis sirenica, which is found in New Zealand.

The head and thorax are deep purple. The forewings are elongate and deep purple with a semioval ochreous-white spot on the middle of the costa. The hindwings are dark bronzy-fuscous, but lighter anteriorly.
