Bareq (also transliterated as , ), is one of the governorates of Asir in the north-west of the region, north of Abha. It occupies a distinct location midway between Tihama and Asir, above sea level. With an estimated population of 50,113, it is well off economically; the city has grown rapidly and has many government services and public utilities available.
