Ballinode
Ballinode is a village situated some 6 km (3.7 miles) from Monaghan Town and 3 km (1.8 miles) from Scotstown in County Monaghan, Ireland. The village straddles the River Blackwater and has a Church of Ireland church with clock tower, cemetery, and church hall; one public house,and a Centra shop, with post office and hardware store. There also is an Astroturf football pitch in the heart of the village which attracts all ages to come and participate in soccer matches.
Ballinode (horse)
Ballinode (foaled 1916) was an Irish racehorse who won the 1925 Cheltenham Gold Cup. She was the first mare and the first Irish-trained horse to win the race. She was known as "The Sligo Mare."
