Baidwan is a surname of people belonging to Jatt clan who hails from village called Mauli Baidwan in Punjab a state of India. Baidwan is derived from two words "Bai" and 'Wan".Bai was with the name of brave Zimidaar or farmer and Wan was known as arrow.In medieval history there was a small ruler called Al-Itah-Mtbhi under his province Mauli comes.He was not good towards the people of his Sultanate. High taxes,non-equality against females,harsh punishments if not paying taxes were normal routine during his reign. Bai was the first one who stood against the ruler.Meanwhile Bai's Zimidaar friends,relatives and Chaudharies of nearby villages also stands together with him and revolt was started against the ruler with first Wan (arrow) of Bai.They not only defeated the ruler and also ends up with all the false practices of ruler. From that day people of this Zimidaar clan were started knowing as Baidwan because ruler was defeated by the Wan(arrow) of Bai. Now,in state of Punjab being the first village from Capital Chandigarh,makes the Mauli Baidwan,Sector 80 Mohali most expensive village in Punjab.People now here are known for there lavish lifestyle.
