Avogadro (crater)

Avogadro is an ancient lunar crater that is located in the northern hemisphere on the far side of the Moon. The formation has been heavily worn and eroded by subsequent impacts, so that the rim is now little more than a rounded edge surrounding the crater depression. The crater floor is equally worn, being covered in a multitude of smaller craters of various sizes. Many of these smaller craters have also been eroded, leaving little more than a faint trace on the surface.

Nearby craters of note include Tikhov, which is nearly attached to the southeast rim, Oberth to the west, and Schjellerup to the north-northwest. To the south-southwest is the crater Yamamoto, and farther to the south is the large walled plain D'Alembert.

Avogadro (software)

Avogadro is a molecular editor designed for cross-platform use in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, bioinformatics, materials science, and related areas. It is extensible via a plugin architecture.

Usage examples of "avogadro".

At the house of Madame Avogadro, a woman full of wit in spite of her sixty years, I had made the acquaintance of a young Polish nobleman called Zawoiski.

There was a Planck constant governing energy, an Avogadro number giving the number of molecules in a standard volume of gas, a Faraday in electricity and a Stefan-Boltzmann constant in radiation.

In 1811 Avogadro, in answer to the confusing problems of combining chemical weights, invented the molecule.

In 1809, at the age of 33, Avogadro became professor of physics at the Royal College at Vercelli.

Then in 1820, when a chair of mathematical physics was created at the University of Turin, the position was given to Avogadro, but he was not to hold it for long.

Charles Felix died, his successor Charles Albert, reopened the university, and Avogadro resumed his old post.

However, Avogadro was still unknown outside Italy, and Cannizzaro realized that the conference was an opportunity to speak about his theory to an international audience.

Mike Chancey says, and goes to tell Avogadro Pierre that he needs to look for a new line of work.
