The Collaborative International Dictionary
Aves \A"ves\, n. pl. [L., pl. of avis bird.] (Zo["o]l.) The class of Vertebrata that includes the birds.
Note: Aves, or birds, have a complete double circulation, oviparous, reproduction, front limbs peculiarly modified as wings; and they bear feathers. All existing birds have a horny beak, without teeth; but some Mesozoic fossil birds (Odontornithes) had conical teeth inserted in both jaws. The principal groups are: Carinat[ae], including all existing flying birds; Ratit[ae], including the ostrich and allies, the apteryx, and the extinct moas; Odontornithes, or fossil birds with teeth.
Note: The ordinary birds are classified largely by the structure of the beak and feet, which are in direct relation to their habits. See Beak, Bird, Odontonithes. [1913 Webster] ||

Her eyes fell on the cable running from the liftcar up into the leaves and branches above .
In response, a squat droid rolled toward them from around the room's curve, a tray of what looked like rolled leaves perched on top of it.
Mentally bracing himself, Karrde sat down in the seat Aves had just vacated and touched a switch.
Then go to pad eight and have Aves move the Millennium Falcon farther back under cover.
He understood, Aves did—understood the requirements and duties of a host.
A moment later the droid's holo projector came on and a two-color map appeared, hovering a few centimeters over the matted leaves underfoot.
Reaching it, she pulled the end of her tunic sleeve down to cover her hand and carefully picked a few of the leaves.
Lowering his blaster, he gently rested the tip of the muzzle against Aves's neck.
The approaching TIE fighters were coming up fast, and already were close enough to eavesdrop on any transmission the Falcon tried to make to its escort.
After that, I have another project in mind which you might find both interesting""We got company," Aves cut him off.
Even now, squads of Noghri Death Commandos were scattered around the galaxy, fighting and dying for those whose coldblooded treachery and counterfeit compassion had turned them into slaves.
Karrde commented, looking around at the empty seats and tables as he and Aves walked down one of the aisles toward the Drinking Cup and the figure waiting there for them.
Gillespee was just helping Aves and Fein pull themselves out over the lip of the Drinking Cup, the web harnesses that had held them suspended just beneath the rocky edge trailing behind them.
