Atmosfear (series)

Atmosfear (previously known as Nightmare in certain regions) is an Australian horror video board game series released in 1991 by Phillip Tanner and Brett Clements.

Two years after the game's launch in 1991, the two millionth Nightmare board game was sold. Since then, three game expansions have been released.

A major refresh to the series was released in 1995, titled The Harbingers, which sold above the industry's sales predictions in Australia and became one of the top-ten best-selling games in the United States and the United Kingdom within months of its release.

The series was revived in 2004 with the release of The Gatekeeper, which included a DVD to replace the video cassette which, with the help of random programming, allows the creators to give a whole new game every time the DVD is played. A second DVD board game was released in 2006 entitled Khufu the Mummy.

Atmosfear

Atmosfear were a British jazz funk band formed in 1979. They consisted of bassist, and keyboardist Lester J. Batchelor, drummer Ray Johnson, guitarist Andy Sojka, saxophonist Stewart Cawthorne, and producer Jerry Pike. A year later singer and guitarist Tony Antoniou joined the main line up. Regular support musician / members of the band were keyboardist Peter Hinds, who has also been a member of UK jazz funk pioneers Light of the World and Incognito, and percussionist Leroy Williams, a member of UK soul band Hi-Tension and who also played with Level 42. They were sometimes joined by horn man Alan Rapoport, Frank Roccoti, Carol Kenyon, and Rick Dejong.

Their most notable release was "Dancing In Outer Space", which reached the Top 50 of the UK Singles Chart in 1979. A double A-sided single followed, "Motivation" / "Extract" which did not chart. This track also became BBC Radio 1 DJ, Pete Tong's club track of the year when it was released where Tong appeared at a nightclub close to Brands Hatch.

Following a major disagreement with Andy Sojka, the main group line up changed completely when bassist Lester Batchelor left soon after the release of the single "Xtra Special" which he penned. The different version of the track was recorded in the United States with the vocals provided by Dolette McDonald.

AtmosFEAR (Morey's Piers)

AtmosFEAR is a drop tower on the Surfside Pier at Morey's Piers seaside park. It was designed by A.R.M. and Larson International, and officially opened in May 2005.

AtmosFEAR creates freefall speeds of 50 mph with a vertical acceleration upwards of three G's. The ride experience on AtmosFEAR features a very slow ascent, which is accented by custom designed LED lighting and an on-board sound system with thunderous sound effects. As the vehicle climbs, fog fills the air, and then without warning the vehicle is released and literally forced downward by a special launch system that generates faster-than-freefall speeds. It is the third-tallest ride at Morey's Piers.
