Asymptotic curve

In the differential geometry of surfaces, an asymptotic curve is a curve always tangent to an asymptotic direction of the surface (where they exist). It is sometimes called an asymptotic line, although it need not be a line.

Usage examples of "asymptotic curve".

Outside, the enemy destroyer approached on an asymptotic curve, always toward the port side where Truculent bad no operational disruptors to bear.

He has burdened himself with a square, old-fashioned briefcase that pulls his slender frame to one side, giving him the asymptotic curve of a sapling in a steady wind.

For the Destruction and all aboard her, Time was slowing down on an asymptotic curve.
