What is "assident"

Assident \As"si*dent\, a. [L. assidens, p. pr. of assid?re to sit by: cf. F. assident. See Assession.] (Med.) Usually attending a disease, but not always; as, assident signs, or symptoms.

a. (context medicine English) Of a symptom, generally, but not always, accompanying a disease; indicative of the presence of a disease but not a necessary occurrence in conjunction with that disease.
