arvato is a fully integrated subsidiary of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA. Approximately 70,000 employees work for arvato services in more than 40 countries. Its services include customer support by phone, email and chat, the development and execution of customer loyalty programs, financial transaction processing and logistics. Arvato also offers complementary logistical services, such as consulting, procurement/purchasing, order management, production, repair services and warehousing.

As a customer service provider and global player in B2B the company competes in diverse markets with other international enterprises such as Stream Global Services and Xceedcc.

The history of arvato began over 175 years ago, when Carl Bertelsmann opened a lithographic printing shop in the East Westphalian town of Gütersloh. This was the first step in the development of a corporate division that today accounts for more Bertelsmann employees than any other. The business began by printing and shipping books and other printed materials for Bertelsmann’s publishing companies, then expanded to provide services for external customers. This marked the birth of arvato, which subsequently grew larger, became involved in new industries, developed innovative products and expanded into other countries and continents − until it became what it is today.

arvato is organized into several solution groups:

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM), services include call centers.
  • Supply Chain Management, services include distribution, ecommerce and packaging
  • Financial Service
  • IT Services
  • Digital Marketing
  • Print Service
  • Replication (Sonopress, formerly arvato Entertainment), services include optical disc replication, distribution and packaging

Each solution group comprises one to many reporting units.
