What is "arjel"

The French Autorité de régulation des jeux en ligne (English: "Regulatory authority for online games"), usually referred to as ARJEL, is an independent administrative authority, specifically designed to regulate online gambling in France. It was created by Article 34 of Law No 2010-476 (The French Gambling Act) of 12 May 2010 on the introduction of competition and sector regulation of gambling and online gambling.

In Article 35 of the same law it is stated that ARJEL should consist of:

1. A board of 7 members, chaired by a president
2. A disciplinary Committee of 6 representatives
3. Special Commissions (the Board may establish special commissions consisting of qualified persons in certain cases)
