Anemonin is a compound found in plants of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It is the dimerization product of the toxin protoanemonin and is easily hydrolysed to a dicarboxylic acid.
The substance is named for the plant genus Anemone, where it was first identified. Antispasmodic and analgetic properties have been described.

Anemonin, or Pulsatilla Camphor, which is the active principle of this plant, is prepared by the chemist, and may be given in doses of from one fiftieth to one tenth of a grain rubbed up with dry sugar of milk.
