What is "anapithecus"

Anapithecus (pronounced Ana-PITH-i-kuhs; from Greek πίθηκος pithekos "ape") is an Late Miocene (approximately 10 million years ago) Pliopithecoidea primate.

Anapithecus had a narrow range over eastern Europe from the Viennese Basin in Austria to northern Hungary. Many of the fossil specimens attributed to this genus were uncovered at the site of Rudabánya, in northern Hungary, where it lived alongside the Miocene ape Rudapithecus.
