Alphestes is a genus of fish in the family Serranidae. It contains the following species:
- Alphestes afer Mutton Hamlet (Bloch, 1793)
- Alphestes immaculatus Pacific Mutton Hamlet Breder, 1936
- Alphestes multiguttatus Rivulated Mutton Hamlet (Günther, 1867)
