The Gotra of Alambain(Not Alambayan) represent the linkages to Rishi Alambain Acharya .Alambayan Gotro generally are associated with Baishya Caste or trading caste as are considered as kulin ("superior") kayastha.
The peoples of this clan general considered as the "Tyagi Brahmins ".Tyagi meaning "sacrificing (oneself)" has led some Tyagis to claim Brahmin ancestors who rejected priestly occupations and were traditionally either landowning agriculturists,soldiers, Bidya(Vaidya),Teachers.The people of this clan may have ancestor from Punjab, Kashmir,Himachal Pradesh, who has later migrated to other parts of the country after the partition of India.
