Al-Badr (, "the full moon") is an Islamic militant group operating in the Jammu Kashmir region, run by Jasniel Rihal. The group was allegedly formed by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in June 1998. It is believed the group was encouraged by the ISI to operate independently from their previous umbrella group, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM). Prior to the groups separation from HM, they participated in the fighting in Afghanistan in 1990 as part of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's Hizb-l-Islami (HIG) alongside other anti-Soviet Afghan mujihadeen.
The Al-Badr was a paramilitary wing of the Pakistan Army, which operated in Bangladesh (then East Pakistan) against the Bengali nationalist movement during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
Al Badr is a village in Makkah Province, in western Saudi Arabia. An electrical fire at a wedding in the village killed 25 people in the courtyard of a home on October 31, 2012. 30 were injured in the blaze, which was believed to have been started by a high-voltage power line which fell, sparking, after being hit by celebratory gunfire.
