What is "al-awazem"

Al-Awazem (; also spelled azmi and awazm) is a large Sunni family.

The Awazem is an influential family in Kuwaiti politics. The family has an especially strong base in the first electoral district (in the Kuwait City metropolitan area) and the fifth electoral district (in the south of the country), where it accounts for about 20% of voters.
