AdamsMorioka was a graphic design firm with offices in Beverly Hills, California and New York City. Founded by Sean Adams and Noreen Morioka in 1994, the firm’s work ranged from corporate identities, identity systems, print campaigns and environmental graphics, to motion and digital projects, animation and websites.
During the twenty years of operation, AdamsMorioka was recognized by major design competitions and publications including: Communication Arts, AIGA, Graphis Inc., the Type Directors Club, the British Art Director’s Club, I.D. magazine, and the New York Art Directors Club. Sean Adams was a two term national president of AIGA, the nation’s largest professional design organization, a past national board member of AIGA, and past president of AIGA Los Angeles. He has taught at California Institute of the Arts and currently teaches at Art Center College of Design. He is the author of Masters of Design: Logo & Identity and Masters of Design: Corporate Brochures. He also co-authored a variety of other books about graphic design. Noreen Morioka is a past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of AIGA, chair of the AIGA National President’s Council and is a current board member of the Art Directors Club.
In 2000, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art exhibited the work of AdamsMorioka in a solo retrospective. AdamsMorioka’s clients included ABC, Adobe Systems, Gap, Old Navy, Frank Gehry Associates, Nickelodeon, University of Southern California, Sundance Institute, and The Walt Disney Company. In 2014, Sean adams and Noreen Morioka were awarded the AIGA Medal. In 2014, the firm closed. Sean Adams began a new studio, Burning Settlers Cabin. Noreen Morioka founded M+ in Venice, California.
