Dragons (Pern)

The Dragons of Pern are a fictional race created by Anne McCaffrey as an integral part of the science fiction world depicted in her Dragonriders of Pern novels.

In creating the Pern setting, McCaffrey set out to subvert the clichés associated with dragons in European folklore and in modern fantasy fiction. Pernese dragons are similar to traditional European dragons in the fact that they can breathe fire and resemble great lizards or dinosaurs with wings, but the resemblance ends there. Unlike most dragons in previous Western literature, Pernese dragons are entirely friendly to humanity. Furthermore, they are not magical at all. Instead, they are a heavily genetically modified species based on one of Pern's native life-forms, the fire-lizard.

Dragons (Dragon Prince)

The ''' Dragons of Dragon Prince ''' are mythical beasts that inhabit the fictional world of Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince and Dragon Star trilogies.

Dragons make their home in The Desert, which is Prince Rohan's princedom. For generations dragons have been hunted for sport and for population control, but Rohan abhorred the prestigious tradition that had won his father respect, acclaim, and eventually his death. After avenging his father, Zehava, Rohan's first decree as Prince was to outlaw dragonslaying. This act was viewed with amusement by the other Princes, whom thought the decree eccentric and Rohan a young buffoon. Rohan did not let fancy alone guide his decree; however, he felt certain that dragons were vitally important to the survival of the Continent. Rohan knew he had been right, when he and Sioned discovered the dragon gold.

Dragons (band)

Dragons were an English rock band, formed in 2005 in Bristol by singer Anthony Tombling Jr. and drummer David Francolini.

Although originally a studio project recorded by Tombling Jr. and Francolini in Francolini's own studio "Ohm Recordings", the duo toured the album with several other musicians including fellow Dark Star and Levitation members Christian Hayes and Laurence O'Keefe, with original Levitation bassist Joe Allen stepping in to fill in for O'Keefe.

After initial live dates with Francolini's former band mates, the line-up of Adam Coombs (synthesizer), Calvin Talbot (guitar), Will Crewdson (guitar) and Jim Fage (bass) was settled. Their brand of sweeping indie rock is compared to the sound of bands such as Joy Division and Editors. Their debut album, Here are the Roses, was released in June 2007. A follow up album was recorded with the full band line-up, but remains unmixed and unreleased.
