Vilkupe

Vilkupe [Wolfs' river] is a small village in the south-east of Latvia. The village is located in the district of Jēkabpils, and bordering the district of Daugavpils. Vilkupe belongs to the municipality of Aknīste. Vilkupe borders Gārsene ( Gārsene Manor), Asere ( Asare), and Susēja. The village center is located in the Suseja river valley. Three rivers flow through the village, the Dienvidsusēja, Dobe( Dobe) and Vilkupe rivers. Also, there are two lakes, Vilkupes (Zuju) lake and Mežezers (Forest lake). Village resident about 80 people, but their number is decreasing every year. The village has about 27 houses, of which only 17 lives people.

Three old pubs are located in Vilkupe, Vārpu pub, the Velna (devil's) pub and Skursteņ pub. Ancient water mill sluice wall fragments of an old stone bridge over the river Dobe, Duke Yēkabs Channel, milk processing plant and farm which at nowadays are abandoned.
