Glyceryl \Glyc"er*yl\, n. [Glycerin + -yl.] (Chem.) A compound radical, C3H5, regarded as the essential radical of glycerin. It is metameric with allyl. Called also propenyl.

n. (context chemistry English) A radical of propene (propylene).

In organic chemistry, propenyl is the species with the formula CH=CHCH. Many propenyl compounds are known, such as cis- and trans-1-chloropropene, propenylbenzene (β-methyl styrene). Propenyl compounds are isomeric with and less common than allyl compounds.
