Lazzaroni \Laz`za*ro"ni\ (l[a^]z`z[.a]*r[=o]"n[i^]; It. l[aum]t`s[.a]*r[=o]"n[-e]), n. pl. [It. lazzarone, pl. lazzaroni.] The homeless idlers of Naples who live by chance work or begging; -- so called from the Hospital of St. Lazarus, which serves as their refuge.
