Peanut \Pea"nut\, n. (Bot.) The fruit of a trailing leguminous plant ( Arachis hypog[ae]a); also, the plant itself, which is widely cultivated for its fruit.

Note: The fruit is a hard pod, usually containing two or three seeds, sometimes but one, which ripen beneath the soil. Called also earthnut, groundnut, and goober.

Goober (brand)

Goober is a combination of peanut butter and jelly in a single jar. It is sold in US, the UK, Canada, Singapore, and other parts of The Commonwealth and is named after a Gullah name for the peanut, which comes from the Gullah word for peanut, guber. Goober was introduced by The J.M. Smucker Company under the Smucker's brand.
