Człuchy

Człuchy is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Smołdzino, within Słupsk County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It lies approximately west of Smołdzino, north-east of Słupsk, and west of the regional capital Gdańsk.

Since the 12th century the area was part of the Holy Roman Empire ( Duchy of Pomerania), 1648-1945 Prussia and Germany. After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles. For the history of the region, see History of Pomerania.
