MyLawsuit.com is a California corporation, based in Silicon Valley, California, that “aims to disrupt the lawyer-to-lawyer referral process, where attorneys refer cases to one another and get anywhere between 11 to 40 percent of the settlement as a kickback.” The business model, which is patented in the United States, received second place in November 2010 in the “Innovate!100 Pitch Slam” competition.
MyLawsuit.com claims to pursue a market of “$100 billion in contingency fees, with an additional $68 billion in punitive damages[, figures] predicted to increase between 6 percent and 11 percent in [2007–2011].” The database contained 300,000 lawyers in November 2011.
