Coate's

Coate's was founded in 1875 by James Coate, which first started as a brushmaker company in London. The company moved to Somerset in 1883, opening factories in Axminster and Chard. Coate's later joined with another brush manufacturer called A Simpson. The company stopped production in 2008, but in 2010, the company was purchased by TGS Products Ltd and moved to Hungerford Berkshire where the new owners attempted unsuccessfully to revive the brand.
