Uncinectomy (also known as infundibulotomy) is the incision given to the uncinate process of ethmoid bone and removal of the same. It is the first and important step in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. Uncinate process is a hook like, thin bony plate attached to the lateral wall of the nose.
